www.nmillerillustration.com Redesign

I was motivated to redesign my site after an illustrator friend of mine redid hers. Belgin Wedman. My site needed some better organization and cleaner graphics. I went for a brighter palette, changed the font on my name to something more friendlier. I broke up my portfolio into 3 sections to make it simplier on the navigation. I originally had all my pieces on 1 page and I realized that was a bit overwhelming. I added a section for What's New, and hopefully I'll be able to update this once a month. That is one of my goals each month. www.NmillerIlustration.com
To be honest, I am not much of a web designer, I took an HTML class and that has made me brave enought to create my own site. I started using a program called Dreamweaver to speed up my web design and it helped out greatly. I added some java script, that I got free from http://javascript.internet.com/ They offer examples of the finished script and how it is supposed to work. I still need to do some further testing on broken links, and anything that doesn't seem to be working.
I hope to get a web site together for my design work as well. I've been working full-time for the past 7 years in the area of print advertising design. I've been asked quite a bit about whether I freelance in that area. I always hesitate to accept work in that area because frankly I have a full work load during the day doing design work. I worry about burn out and getting things done in a timely mainly. Lately I've been really thinking more and more about pursuing a freelance career full-time. Optimally it would be illustration jobs in the children's market, but those job are competitively gone after. I figure I might try to broaden my pursutes and make some money that might help to fuel the illustration work that I enjoy doing.
