I'm a list maker and lately, I have a list of to do's that I keep meaning to do but can never find the time to get to them. Here's the list, 1. create website for design work, 2.redesign my blog, 3. create new illustrations 4. buy & learn to use corel painter
In the meantime I've been busy with freelance design work and a full-time job. I shouldn't complain because it's great to have work. The freelance work has mainly been design oriented but now I'm getting to use my illustration skills. I'm doing a illustration for a greeting card and a front and back letter size activity page for kids. With that said I'm hoping these jobs will help with number 3 on my list. Part of me wonders if I'm just not that motivated for task 1 and 2. Web design is not my favorite thing to do. Maybe that is why i've been procrastinating. Number 4 is something I added recently. I've had so many illustrator friends tell me how much they enjoy using the program. I figure I should give it a whirl. Hopefully in the near future I'll have some more finished projects that I can post on my blog.
I've been working on a side project of trying to find ways to make the most financially from my illustrations. I'd noticed some illustrators selling fine art prints of their work. I did some research and was able to find a vendor that could scan original artwork with a Cruse scanner. It's what they use in the Vatican scan their collection. I got my Cats on a Submarine reproduced as a print. Looks amazing! I was really pleased by the final reproduction. I've posted a page on my web site announcing that they are for sale w/prices.
